Calgary Chamber reiterates need for sustainable and inclusive economic recovery that supports business as new federal ministers are appointed

Calgary, August 18, 2020 – The Calgary Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Minister Freeland and Minister LeBlanc and wish them every success in their new roles.

“We look forward to continued partnership with Cabinet and the federal government to advance the important work of stabilizing our economy in the short term, positioning Canada for continued resiliency, and putting in place a winning strategy for the future,” says Murray Sigler, interim CEO of the Calgary Chamber.

In particular, the Calgary Chamber looks forward to working with:

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, to ensure we continue to stabilize our businesses and households in the short term, and address Canada’s tax system, infrastructure funding capacity, and develop a vision for natural resource development and combatting climate change in the long-term.

The Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, President of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, to ensure the provinces and federal government continue to work collaboratively, given that our economic recovery will take years and require innovative, bold action.

The Chamber would like to thank the Honourable Bill Morneau for his years of service as Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament for Toronto Centre.
