CALGARY – On Saturday, June 8, 2019, Calgary will host the city’s first Lemonade Day, a project partnership between the Calgary Chamber and Junior Achievement of Southern Alberta.
“Lemonade Day is a wonderful initiative that encourages young people into entrepreneurship,” says Calgary Chamber President and CEO, Sandip Lalli. “The benefits the children receive are extensive; financial literacy, creativity, real world business experience, and learning about philanthropy.” The program is free for children to take part in because of the generosity of our sponsors.
The participants complete a business plan including stand and recipe design, budgeting, sourcing investors and products, and operating their stand on June 8.
“We have over 350 children registered to take part in Calgary’s inaugural Lemonade Day this year and are thrilled to have this opportunity to nourish, power, and inspire our city’s next group of business leaders” added Lalli.
Lemonade Day was founded in 2007 in the United States and is now found throughout the world. In Calgary, the event is supported by local sponsors Sure Call, Urban Fare, Fiasco Gelato, Dogma Training and Pet Services, and Photobase.
