Provincial Speech from the Throne

CALGARY – On behalf of the Calgary business community I congratulate Premier Jason Kenney and Alberta’s new government on today’s Speech from the Throne.

Throughout the election period the Calgary Chamber advocated for the next government to prioritize the economic prosperity of Alberta. Because, when businesses thrive, communities thrive.

Today’s Speech from the Throne laid out a clear path forward for what businesses and all Albertans can expect to see in the coming months. The Job Creation Tax Cut Act will enact a staged reduction of Alberta’s corporate tax rate, which will help attract business to our province, encourage investment, and broaden the tax base. The Red Tape Reduction Act will look to identify regulatory efficiencies and remove barriers to business growth, both areas which the Calgary Chamber advocated on throughout the election period.

The Chamber of Commerce has been a catalyst for Calgary’s growth for over 128 years and continues to be the voice of the Calgary business community. As the spring session gets underway, we look forward to working with Premier Kenney and his new government to implement business forward policies that will help grow Alberta’s economy.
