Calgary, April 24, 2024 – Calgary-based NuLeaf Farms has been named the 2024 recipient of the ENMAX Amplifier fund, a $25,000 grant that will be used to invest in research development, expansion and inspiring the next generation of innovators and environmental stewards. NuLeaf Farms is a locally owned business that designs, builds and supports sustainable indoor farming. Offering a wide range of solutions, NuLeaf combines both technology and plant science to increase operational sustainability and produce safe and reliable food for communities. As indoor and vertical farming continues to change the face of agriculture, NuLeaf’s technology aims to make healthy, locally grown foods accessible for communities across the country.

"We're thrilled to be the recipients of the ENMAX Amplifier Fund,” says Ryan Wright, Co-founder of NuLeaf. “This initiative provides optimism to small businesses and enables us to further our mission of bringing agricultural education to schools. We're really trying to open young people’s eyes to the exciting opportunities in the agriculture industry."

In the next few years, as indoor and vertical farming continues to become more prominent, NuLeaf is eager to continue their work in not only reducing dependence on complex supply chains, but empowering consumers and farmers to benefit from optimized production and increased quality. They also anticipate growing their team and further expanding their operations to help more farmers and communities.

“As food security becomes a more pressing issue in our everchanging world, we’re excited to join ENMAX in announcing NuLeaf Farms as the recipient of the 2024 ENMAX Amplifier Fund,” says Deborah Yedlin, President and CEO of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. “The company’s focus on building the next generation of farmers and sustainable agricultural best practices through plant science and innovative technology highlights the world-class solutions Calgary has to offer. We’re thrilled to be able to support the growth of a Calgary business having tangible impacts to reduce food waste, cultivate reliable food sources for communities and ensure consistent, year-round food production.”

“We’re proud to award the Amplifier Fund grant to NuLeaf Farms Inc., whose innovative mindset and sustainable mission resonated with ENMAX,” says Brandie Yarish, Chief Human Resources Officer and Executive Vice President, Safety and IT with ENMAX. “Through the Amplifier Fund, ENMAX is thrilled to invest in the growth and development of cutting-edge, small local businesses like NuLeaf that are helping to make a difference in our communities by applying advanced technology to one of our most basic needs.”
