Annex Ale Project is working with Craft Beer and some other local distilleries to begin producing hand sanitizer as product stock in Calgary is critically low.
Annex Ale has reported that they now have a commitment from a large local grocery chain for distribution.
The local brewery will be scaling their operations as much as possible in order to meet demand.
Some of the sanitizer supply will be donated to the Calgary food bank, homeless shelters, and other charities that are in need of this product.
As a brewery, Annex Ale is in a unique position to make hand sanitizer because they have a license to acquire and warehouse distilled spirits, as well as having access to a packaging line to be able to put these products into cans. This product will be sold as sanitizer refills.
People will need to pour it into a sealable container (sani-bottle, soap dispenser, shampoo bottle, or any container that can hold it.) Just be sure to label it is sanitizer.
Annex Ale Project wishes to have their product available as soon as next week.
Annex and Craft Beer will be putting together a package that they hope to share with other Canadian distillers and brewers that are legally able to blend spirit. They will also be sharing the labels for other companies to use.
“We encourage other producers with the ability to blend and package to do the same to help fill shortages. If any distillers and brewers located in the Calgary area can help fill our first order please reach out!”
The distilleries that have committed to helping Annex are Two Rivers Distillery and Confluence Distilling.
Check out their websites below and be sure to support small brewery and distillery businesses throughout this worldwide crisis. We can, and we will get through this together.
The Calgary Chamber commends this amazing group effort during this tough time to keep businesses open and to support Calgary at the same time!
